Help for the Frightened: Using EMDR to Heal by Reprocessing Nightmares

Intrusive thoughts and dissociative episodes following trauma can emerge in dreams and nightmares. Terrifying images and out-of-body sleep experiences sometimes take on a life of their own. They wreak havoc with a person's sleep and can affect overall health. This workshop presents an EMDR protocol to address nightmares. Cognitive interweaves involving imagery, active imagination, body-based interventions, spiritual resources, and cognitive restructuring are used to target and transform nightmares. The workshop contains didactic material, a live demonstration of the method and guided small group practice.
