EMDR & Children: Utilizing Play Therapy Techniques

This workshop will focus on the basic and advanced skills needed to utilize the EMDR protocol with children. Trauma, neglect, brain development and attachment will be discussed in relation to the AIP, the EMDR protocol and case conceptualization. Participants will learn to adapt each phase of the protocol so that it is developmentally appropriate for the child's age. Play therapy techniques which can be used throughout the EMDR process will be discussed and demonstrated. Special attention will be given to determine the NC and PC, child-oriented resource development and preparation, and play therapy techniques to make the EMDR process effective with children. This workshop includes didactic material, experiential exercises and case studies.
